Burk Collins & Company was founded by Burk and Jean Collins in 1970. Burk grew up in Bromide, Oklahoma while Jean spent her childhood in neighboring Lehigh, Oklahoma.
Married in 1960, the Collins’ moved to Fort Worth where Burk was employed in the foam rubber fabricating business. In 1965, Burk and Jean entered the wholesale carpet industry. During this time, Burk attended TCU while Jean managed the floor covering business. In 1970, they started Burk Collins & Company, Ltd. This new company specialized in developing retail shopping centers, warehouses, subdivisions and office buildings.
In their 61-year history as a couple, Burk and Jean have developed in excess of 8,000,000 square feet of commercial real estate including but not limited to retail, industrial, office space and sub-divisions.
Burk and Jean have 2 children, 10 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and reside in Bear Creek Plantation -- the site of Oak Alley.
